More than 5000 dune fans made the 2009 Dune Tour Spooktacular presented by Forest River part of their Halloween Weekend activities.   Over the course of two days, a steady flow of enthusiasts on ATV’s, Side X Side’s, trucks and buggies visited vendor displays, signed up for demo rides from Kawasaki and Yamaha, and hung out in the Monster Energy lounge.  Great deals from Muzzy’s, Ride Now, Pro Armor, ITI Motorsports, and Mendoza’s Off-road kept shoppers coming back for more all weekend.  During the free lunch, raffles and karaoke contest the event area was absolutely packed.

Kids and parents alike had a blast participating in the trick or treating, costume contest, and pumpkin carving contest.  The arts and crafts and bounce house entertained the kids while mom and dad checked out the latest and greatest for their machines.  Activities such as these further enforce the family friendly atmosphere that makes the Dune Tour such a success.

“We were very excited to see the crowds of people standing side by side enjoying all of the different events that we had available for them throughout the weekend,” said Dune Tour promoter, Nick McFayden.  Events included a Drive-in Movie, Scavenger Hunt, Show and Shine, and Karaoke Party.  The kids were kept busy in the Kid Zone and at the Easter Egg Hunt.

“PGI Media enjoyed teaming with Yamaha to assist in presenting their Rhino Rally this year,” said Nick McFayden.  The Rhino Rally attracted a large showing of Side X Sides that joined the ATV’s, SandCar’s and other OHV’s that continually populate each stop on the Dune Tour.

Here’s a look at the event by the numbers:
Approximately 1,800 people registered for the event
Approximately 4,500 participated in the different event activities over the weekend.
Six hundred and thirty scavenger hunt cards were returned from people who completed all six stops.
More than $20,000 worth of raffle prizes were given away.
Nineteen people participated in the Karaoke Contest for aYamaha EF2000iS Generator.
Thirty Eight vehicles entered the Show and Shine.
Three hundred people attended the Drive in Movie on Friday night.
More than 100 kids participated in the Easter Egg Hunt and one lucky winner took home the Yamaha Raptor ATV Ride-On for Children grand prize.
More than 1,000 people enjoyed the Dune Tour BBQ lunch.
Approximately 80 people participated in the Yamaha demo rides on Rhino 700 FI SxS vehicles and Grizzly 700 FI EPS, Grizzly 550 FI EPS, Raptor 250 and YFZ450R ATVs.
Five trailer loads of trash were collected.

Glamis is located in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area in Southern California.  The Dune Tour, a family-friendly event, has three more scheduled stops including Pismo Beach, CA August 7-9; Gordon’s Well, CA November 13-15, 2009; Dumont Dunes, CA January 15-17, 2010.

We are incorporating the Yamaha Rhino Rally with this stop of the Dune Tour and will be titling it “The ‘09 Yamaha Rhino Rally at The Dune Tour, presented by Yamaha.”  What began in 2004 as a series of fun-filled gatherings has launched into a 4-event series stopping at different dune locations.  The First stop of the 2009 Dune Tour will take place in Glamis, Calif., March 20 and 21, 2009, and will feature all of the family-friendly activities that made the previous stops so successful, including: a scavenger hunt, bon fire, movie premier, a Show & Shine contest (with new classes), KidZone, Karaoke Party, raffle (with thousands of dollars in prizes), an ATV certification course, dune clean-up, and more. This promises to be an event where proud Yamaha Rhino owners can gather to hang out and ride together.  Of course, great food and entertaining music will be an important part of the experience.  You don’t want to miss The ‘09 Yamaha Rhino Rally at The Dune Tour.
