The Rhino Rally at the Dune Tour Presented by Yamaha drew crowds larger than Glamis has seen at any event yet.  Over the course of two days (Friday March 20 and Saturday March 21) more than 4500 people from multiple states came to enjoy the family-friendly atmosphere and events.

“We were very excited to see the crowds of people standing side by side enjoying all of the different events that we had available for them throughout the weekend,” said Dune Tour promoter, Nick McFayden.  Events included a Drive-in Movie, Scavenger Hunt, Show and Shine, and Karaoke Party.  The kids were kept busy in the Kid Zone and at the Easter Egg Hunt.

“PGI Media enjoyed teaming with Yamaha to assist in presenting their Rhino Rally this year,” said Nick McFayden.  The Rhino Rally attracted a large showing of Side X Sides that joined the ATV’s, SandCar’s and other OHV’s that continually populate each stop on the Dune Tour.

Here’s a look at the event by the numbers:
Approximately 1,800 people registered for the event
Approximately 4,500 participated in the different event activities over the weekend.
Six hundred and thirty scavenger hunt cards were returned from people who completed all six stops.
More than $20,000 worth of raffle prizes were given away.
Nineteen people participated in the Karaoke Contest for aYamaha EF2000iS Generator.
Thirty Eight vehicles entered the Show and Shine.
Three hundred people attended the Drive in Movie on Friday night.
More than 100 kids participated in the Easter Egg Hunt and one lucky winner took home the Yamaha Raptor ATV Ride-On for Children grand prize.
More than 1,000 people enjoyed the Dune Tour BBQ lunch.
Approximately 80 people participated in the Yamaha demo rides on Rhino 700 FI SxS vehicles and Grizzly 700 FI EPS, Grizzly 550 FI EPS, Raptor 250 and YFZ450R ATVs.
Five trailer loads of trash were collected.

Glamis is located in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area in Southern California.  The Dune Tour, a family-friendly event, has three more scheduled stops including Pismo Beach, CA August 7-9; Gordon’s Well, CA November 13-15, 2009; Dumont Dunes, CA January 15-17, 2010.
